Pumping
Pumping is not really a trick. It is more of a technique that you need to know so you can learn tricks on a mini ramp. Pumping is what you do to keep speed in a half pipe so you don’t have to push in the bottom.
To pump, you just bend your knees and straighten your legs at stragetic points on the ramp. As you are going down one side, you want to straighten your legs fast. This pushes the board down the transition and gives you a boost of speed. When you get to the bottom, bend your knees a little bit. Not a lot, but enough so you can straighten them again on the other side.
As you are approaching the other side, straighten your legs again. This will push your board up the ramp some. This makes you get higher up the ramp so you can do a lip trick, or you can get more speed going down the ramp again.
Pumping is rather hard to explain. When you learn how to do it, you will know if you are doing it right. So go practice.
