Frontside 5-0

A frontside 5-0 grind is a grind on just your back truck. It looks like you are doing a manual. As with all frontside grinds, you will come in towards the box with the front of your body facing the box. You want to have a good ollie and a good 50-50 grind.

Get some speed and roll towards the box, rail, ledge, or whatever. I come towards it perfectly parallel to the box, but the approach may differ from skater to skater, so experiment a bit. Your feet should be in ollie position.

Pop an ollie and use your feet to guide the board towards the ledge. There are two ways to get into it. You can just not level out your ollie by keeping your back leg straight. This makes it so that the back truck stays lower than the front; thus making you land on your back truck. This is good for learning on low things.

You can also pop an ollie and level it out like normal. Both trucks will be even, but when you get close to the ledge, you should put pressure on the tail to force the front up (before the trucks touch the ledge). This is better for grinding on high things.

Once you have figured out how to get into it, the rest is easy. Keep pressure on the tail so you don’t fall down into a 50-50. You can drag your tail if you want, or you can have them perfectly balanced out, just on your back truck. Grinding is just a matter of balance.

To get out, you simply ride off the end. To get off in the middle of the box, just pivot out like a kickturn and ride away.
