Skateboard Ramps And Halfpipes
smashed my knee, is it serious?
i am 17 years old and was skateboarding today. unfortunately the park that i go to lets little kids on the halfpipes and ramps. well a little kid fell as i was going down and i had to bail out so i wouldnt hit him. unfortunately when i bailed out, i smashed my knee into the corner of a kicker box and it hurts too bad to walk on it and it makes a clicking noise whenever i move it. is this serious or will it heal by itself? i hope its not serious because im going to a competition and i need it to be okay by saturday 
you should get it checked by a doctor. I would say it would just be a sprain, but when you mentioned clicking, that kinda sounded different.
In any case, my athletic Trainer taught me to remember RICE.
R= rest, because walking with a messed up knee obviously does it no good.
I= ice which reduces pain and swelling
C=compression which reduces swelling and stabilizes the joint
and E= elevation which (of course) reduces blood flow to the injury, thus ceasing swelling
